With all these issues rolling out, what will happen to Melbourne CBD in the next 150 years?



Past City Future was a design studio which collaborated with Melbourne based theatre group, ‘One step at a time like this’ who work on creating place-responsive works with a focus on audience involvment in unfolding imagined and real worlds before them. This project looks at envisioning Melbourne as a past, from the future. Throughout the CBD, we come across plaques that educate us about Melbourne’s past but, what about the city’s future?

In 2010, there was a press release of plans aiming to transform the Rialto Tower complex into a fine dining precinct. What will become of it with world issues such as peak oil, climate change and governmental transformations?
